WHAT WE OFFER
JUMBO BROWN
Jumbo brown are feather sexable and are an excellent dual purpose bird for consumption and egg laying. They are champion layers producing eggs 12-16 grams. These gentle giants finish out at 12-14 oz at 10 weeks. They are calm, easy to handle, naturally inquisitive making them great pets and a perfect starter bird. Available as hatching eggs, chicks and breeding sets (breeding sets include 1 roo and 4 hens). Although we are NOT official JMF breeders our original stock came from an approved JMF breeder.

PANSY
Our Pansy variety is unique and working project. Although we no longer sell the Jumbo Pansy, we know you will love this new addition to Ales and Quail which come in ginger and roux. They are not only beautiful but also champion layers. Although not jumbo, most will be larger than your standard coturnix when they finish out at 10 weeks. These birds will stand out in your covey by their beauty and uniqueness alone. This is a fun, inquisitive and medium energy bird. Coming soon and available as chicks.

GERMAN SPARKLY
German Sparkly are Melissa's personal favorite of all the coturnix. These large and colorful birds are excellent as a source of meat as well as fantastic layers. They are party animals with great personalities and definitely eye candy for your covey. Similar in size to the Jumbo Pansy/Rotkopf they will finish out as a medium size bird with most over or close to the over 10 oz jumbo weight with medium size eggs. German Sparkly are feather sexable. They are good layers, calm, easy to handle, friendly, and happy all the time. We do not breed specific color lines, instead these are available as a collection of colors, come as a variety and will hatch out as a variety. The sparkly gene is incomplete dominant and the gene in heterozygous form amplifies any type of feather color. Available as hatching eggs, chicks and breeding sets (breeding sets include 1 roo and 4 hens.

JUMBO PEARL (*Sold as a part of our Sparkly Collection only)
From the German Sparkly Line come the jumbo pearls. These come in both sparkly and non sparkly, pearl fee and pearl but no matter the distinction they are one of Melissa's personal favorite of all the coturnix (right after the Gingers). These large and beautiful birds are excellent as a source of meat as well as fantastic layers. They have great personalities and are feather sexable. They are good layers, calm, easy to handle, friendly, and happy all the time. Available as hatching eggs, chicks and adults as a part of our German Sparkly Collection ONLY.

CELADON
Celadon birds are unique with their fun color varieties and special blue eggs. Celadon are standard sized coturnix, laying standard sized eggs with a special gene which allows most hens to lay blue eggs. Our celadon will come in red range, scarlet, Tibetan, Italian or gold, rosetta, pharaoh, silver and tuxedo of any of those colors. Our line also breeds true for the celadon gene and blue eggs. If you are looking for a variety of fun colored birds and adding a blue and sometimes blue speckled egg to your collection, then these are the birds for you. Despite what you have heard, we have not had any issues with higher than normal mortality rates, health issues, or any of the other issues celadon get a bad reputation for. In fact, our celadon have one of our highest hatch rates here at Ales and Quail! It was our goal and earned success, to have stock that do not show the worrisome characteristics previously mentioned because we have consistently bred against these deficiencies. We are also working hard to try to ensure as much as possible that you get birds that will lay blue eggs, but the nature of the celadon gene means these birds could produce a chick that hatches from a blue egg but does not lay blue eggs or a rooster that came from a blue egg but does not produce 100% blue egg laying offspring. However, we have NOT experienced this in over 3 years. Available as hatching eggs, chicks, and breeding sets (breeding sets include 1 roo and 4 hens).

BLACK
We owe our thanks to those great breeders (Mike Rose and Rebecca Lynch) that came before us and did the hard work to achieve this stunning and extremely unique color variety. The Ales and Quail line comes directly from those prior two. Our blacks come as: All Black and Mottled. Blacks are a standard sized coturnix, laying standard sized eggs. They are calm, sweet but still know how to have fun. Not only are they beautiful but they are a joy to watch as well. You cannot go wrong adding these stunning birds to your covey. GINGER
We again owe our thanks to Southwest Gamebird's - Mike Rose who made my dreams come true with this stunning and extremely unique color variety. Just like the German Sparkly Line these are larger with many reaching jumbo weights. They are calm, sweet and the only cotrunix that have my whole heart. They do come in a variety of plumage patterns and even in fee. Look at that face - it screams "love and joy". These stunning birds are an absolute must have for your covey. OZ Snowy
We again owe our thanks to Thieving Otter Farms for this stunning and extremely unique color variety. You can expect calm, sweet birds that hatch out in a variety of plumage patterns .
